Salukis USA - Texas Extended!

Galveston Bay Saluki Club held it specialty show and 2 supported entries at the Houston Farm and Ranch Club Nov. 9 – 11. It was a good entry and well attended with a silent auction and raffle to benefit rescue.

                   

Robert Paust from Sweden started Friday evening off with Sweepstakes finding Zsumed Herek Ibn Asad for Best in Sweepstakes and 7Seas Int’l Safari Al Sayad for Best of Opposite Sex. Veterans Sweepstakes went to Ch. Karista Always Mar-Kie Tajmahal Best in Sweeps and Ch. Sundara Shara Glory Haleluja Best of Opposite Sex.

Saija Juutilainen of Wallaby Saluki fame took over the ring and found her Winners Dog in Blue Nile Vanilla Sky bred, owned and shown by Michael McMillian and Sara Winstead. Reserve winners dog was Reignbeau Shahtani Texbless’d owned and shown by Cindy Najera. Winners Bitch also came from the Bred by Classes in 7Seas Int’l Safari Al Sayad, breeder-owner-handled by Fiona Bennett. Reserve winners bitch was the Scandinavian bred, Caravan Waqrah at Hidasar owner handled by yours truly. Several lovely Veterans were then shown with the 7+ class going to Ch. Hajji-reignbeau Int’l Reign JC for dogs and Ch. Sundara Shara Glory Haleluja winning for bitches. 10 + was won by Ch. Karista Always Mar-Kie Tajmahal.

A lovely class of 14 champion dog and bitches then entered with the veterans and WD and WB. In the end the 7+ Veterans dog Ch. Hajji-Reignbeau Int’l Reign JC who was shown by Peter Ortiz as Cindy Najera was in the ring with her girl, was chosen for Best of Breed honors. Best of Winners and Best Bred By Exhibitor was the Winners Dog Blue Nile Vanilla Sky and Best of Opposite Sex was Diane Divins’ Breeder-Owner Handled Ch. Awn Firuza IsadoraDuncan. Awards of Merit were Ch. Blue Nile Vanilla Ice, littermate to the Winner Dog and Ch. Solari Talisa Instygator JC.

Saturday was judged by Elaine Yerty, Springmeadow Salukis for Sweepstakes. Best in Sweepstakes was Appalachia’s Laila Ali, breeder-owner handled by Pam Arwood, and Best of Opposite sex was 7Seas Int’l Viking Al Sayad, breeder-owner handled by Fiona Bennett in the classes but shown by Nick in the best ring.

Frank Farrar of Sedeki Saluki fame then entered the ring for the regular class judging. Winners Dog went to the Bred by Exhibitor Dog Hidasar Jabberwocky, breeder-owner handled by Terri Fortner-Jackson, with Reserve Winners dog going to the 6 – 9 puppy Dog Koshanda’s Ice Storm breeder-owner handled by Charles and Kay Vickers. Winners Bitch was Jen Araby Chaka Khan owner-handled by Peter Ortiz, which finished her championship. Reserve Winners Bitch was the once again Caravan Waqrah at Hidasar, both from the Open class. It was a full Specials ring and Best of Breed/Best of Winners honors went to the Bred by Exhibitor dog Hidasar Jabberwocky and Best of Opposite Sex to new Ch. Jen Araby Chaka Khan.

Hidasar Jabberwocky went on to a hound group 3rd under Prof. Doug Taylor.

Sunday saw Salukis start time as 8:00 am so bright and early we gathered for Sweepstakes with judge Timothy Robbins. Best in Sweepstakes was Srinagar Shefaro Honore and Best of Opposite Sex was Zsumed Makin Malik.

Regular classes were judged by Seamus Oates from Ireland. Winners Dog/Best of Winners was FC Zsumed Solari Kita Kiba SC, shown by Garry Newton, who finished his Championship for owner Shanis Reynolds, who was manning the Houston Nutcracker Festival booth. Reserve winners dog was Hidasar Jabberwocky from Bred by. Winners Bitch went to Hidasar Galadriel, who finished her championship from the Bred by Exhibitor class and Reserve Winners Bitch to the Open Bitch winner Sadiya Amani Mujannah, owned by Linda Larsen and shown by Fiona Bennett. A full class of specials entered for the best of breed challenge. On top today was Ch. Blue Nile Vanilla Ice breeder-owner handled by Sara Winstead and Michael McMillian, with Best of Opposite Sex going to the New Champion Ch. Jen Araby Chaka Khan.

Upcoming shows are the AKC/Eukanuba Championship show in Long Beach, CA on Dec 1st .

Empire Saluki Club, The SCOA Eastern Regional combo Feb 8 & 9th in Secaucus, NJ with Breeder judges Wendy Duggan and Dennis Schmidt,

San Angeles Saluki Club April 11th in Brea, Ca, as part of The back to back Western Hound Assoc shows in Silverado, CA April 12 & 13th.
